Barb has three sons: ages 24, 23, and 9. Her first round of homeschooling began 19 years ago and she currently is delighting in her second round with her 9 year old son. With Barb’s background as a Bible teacher with a BA degree in Bible and Bible Teaching from Columbia International University, there was no question that Tapestry, with its strong commitment to teaching God’s story to the next generation, would become her choice for the backbone of their homeschooling. In fact, Tapestry became a family favorite thirteen years ago and she has been teaching and leading Tapestry virtual co-ops for twelve years. With the opening of the Lampstand Learning Center, she is thrilled to be able to offer the experience that has enriched her family's education to other families. A New England native, Barb currently resides in sunny Florida.
Teresa Burger is the wife of a career Marine Corps officer and is currently living in Virginia with their three children (ages 20, 18, and 15). As a military wife, she has made her home in 10 different states (so far), with each child being born in a different location. Mrs. Burger earned her B.A. in Early Childhood Development from the University of Kentucky and after the birth of her third child, pursued an M.A. in Human Development in 2001. Teresa’s oldest son was a homeschool graduate, joined the Virginia National Guard, and is now enrolled at Liberty University. Her middle son will graduate as a homeschooler in June 2017 and is headed to Penn State and is excited to join the Marine ROTC program. Her youngest child homeschooled through middle school and is enrolled at a private high-school where she excels in English and Science (although her true passion is soccer). Tapestry of Grace has been a part of their homeschool curriculum for over 10 years and considers it a true privilege to work with families enrolled with Lampstand Learning Center and partner together on this homeschool journey.
Mrs. Holman, a lifelong Ohio native, found her passion for teaching while attending The Ohio State University 35 years ago. Earning both a BS and MA in Education, Kim taught in the public school arena in special education and Language Arts for 14 years prior to becoming a stay at home mom. Once their second son was diagnosed with Asperger’s at the age of five, she and her husband felt the Lord’s calling to homeschool all four of their children. Over the past 14 years of homeschooling, Kim has taught in a variety of co-op settings and spent many years with Classical Conversations as a parent, teacher and director. Her family has been blessed through Tapestry of Grace for the past six years as the foundation for their homeschool. Married 26 years, Kim and her husband have four children – three sons ages 22, 19, 18 and a 16 year old daughter. In addition to teaching, she enjoys quilting, gardening, camping, traveling, and time with family. Kim is excited to teach with Lampstand Learning Center and is truly blessed to come alongside families through the Tapestry of Grace curriculum.
Kim is a California native, transplanted to New Hampshire! She now adores the beauty of God’s Creation in the magnificent New England colors of autumn. She holds a B.S. in Nutritional Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and is a Registered Dietitian/Nutritionist. She enjoyed a career counseling patients and teaching classes in the many facets of healthy eating. She and her husband knew that if the Lord ever blessed them with children, that they would homeschool them. Kim left her career as a dietitian when they were blessed with two sons. and began using her teaching skills in her homeschool. She taught from 2006-2010 in a local homeschool co-op. The Lord brought Tapestry of Grace into her family’s homeschooling journey in 2007 and they fell in love with it! Kim especially appreciates how Tapestry weaves God’s truth into the study of literature. She began teaching rhetoric level literature in an online Tapestry virtual co-op in 2015 and is thrilled to continue teaching rhetoric literature with the LLC. She is also excited to share God’s intricate and amazing creation of our bodies with her Health and Wellness students and guide them in exploring their health from both a biblical and scientific perspective.
Sheri and her husband decided to homeschool before their first child was born, twenty-two years ago. She and her husband, a 33-year Navy veteran (now retired), have moved around the world with their three lively children. Her passion for history has been utilized in numerous co-op classes, both live and virtual, for many years. After trying to craft her own classical curriculum, and trying many of the programs available, she discovered Tapestry and finally found her niche. This is her seventh year using the Tapestry program, and she has been blessed to have dabbled in Classic, Redesign, and DE. She hopes to one day complete the last semester she needs to earn her B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, and add another degree in History. She currently lives in Virginia.
What Teri really loves to do is teach. She has found opportunities to do so for the past eleven years through Tapestry co-ops, private schools, and tutoring (tutoring all of WriteAtHome's Tapestry students for several years). Teri earned a B.S. in Computer Science and worked as a computer system engineer, corporate trainer, and project manager before becoming a mother. Teri is a computer geek at heart, and now that her children are grown, she is excited to have the opportunity to bring Tapestry to life online for students around the corner and around the world! We know you will find that her unique blend of enthusiasm for teaching and tech-savvy approach makes her a lively and engaging discussion leader. She and her husband have graduated four great kids, and live outside Saginaw, Michigan.
