Barb Spanier

Barb Spanier, Teacher & Director

Barb has three sons: ages 22, 21, and 7. Her first round of homeschooling began 17 years ago. While it is all too quickly winding down, she is looking forward with excitement to a second round of home education with her youngest. With Barb’s background as a Bible teacher with a BA degree in Bible and Bible Teaching from Columbia International University, there was no question that Tapestry, with its strong commitment to teaching God’s story to the next generation, would become her choice for the backbone of their homeschooling. In fact, Tapestry became a family favorite eleven years ago and she has been teaching and leading Tapestry virtual co-ops for ten years. With the opening of the Lampstand Learning Center, she is thrilled to be able to offer the experience that has enriched her family's education to other families. Barb currently resides in Florida with her husband of 25 years and their sons.

Jana Alexander

Jana Alexander

Teaching has been a passion throughout Jana's life. After graduating from UNC-Chapel Hill with a B.S. in Industrial Relations, Jana taught computer programming and computer applications at the middle school, high school, community college, and corporate levels for 12 years. Once her first child was born, she realized the Lord was calling her to stay at home to be a wife and mother. When her two children reached school age, she began homeschooling them and knew she had found her niche. The Lord led Jana to the Tapestry of Grace curriculum when her son reached 5th grade, and though he has since graduated from her home school, her daughter is beginning her 12th year with the program. Jana founded a local TOG co-op ten years ago, where she began teaching the dialectic and rhetoric levels of history and literature, both in classrooms and online. She began teaching for the LLC 4 years ago. She resides in North Carolina with her husband, two children, two terriers, and pesky black cat. When she's not teaching TOG Jana reads, knits, and gardens.

Aubry Myers

Aubry Myers

Aubry Myers grew up in Maryland, where she was homeschooled from Kindergarten through high school under the classical model of education. After graduating from Belhaven University with a B.A. in English, she returned to Maryland and began teaching history, literature, and government at a classical tutorial for homeschoolers. She feels called to teach and is delighted to be able to do so in the homeschooling community. Helping her students come into their own as young adults as they learn to think critically and develop their own opinions and arguments has been a joy. Aubry is currently pursuing an M.A. in English at the Bread Loaf School of English, a summer master’s program with Middlebury College designed for English teachers. As a firm believer in classical education, she could not be more excited to be teaching at Lampstand Learning Center.

She and her husband, a 31-year Navy veteran (now retired), have moved around the world with their three lively children. Her passion for history has been utilized in numerous co-op classes, both live and virtual, for many years. This is her seventh year using the Tapestry program, and she has been blessed to have dabbled in Classic, Redesign, and DE. She hopes to one day complete the last semester she needs to earn her B.S. in Computer Science from Old Dominion University, and add another degree in History. She currently lives in Virginia.
